Our tour will take you to see the only divided capital in the world.
We’ll visit the green line, the line that divides the island and the
capital in two parts. Our tour will cover the Venetian Walls of the
16th century by the Famagusta Gate, the Monument of Liberty and the
Archbishopric with the Statue of Makarios.
We then drive to the picturesque village of Lefkara well known for
its embroideries, laces and silverware. The narrow, winding streets
with traditional old houses attracts many artists, but Lefkara is
more famous as the home of Cyprus lace. Women still sit in the
narrow streets and courtyards making lace and beautiful linen
openwork in intricate and traditional patterns, as they have done
for hundreds of years. Apparently Leonardo da Vinci bought the cover
for Milan Cathedral's altar from Lefkara in 1481.
The Cyprus Night is THE social event of the Congress! Cypriots
really enjoy sharing a delicious traditional Mezé meal with friends
to be followed with traditional music and dancing, so our Cyprus
Night promises warm Cyprus hospitality and much more! Mezé, meaning
'little bites' is a real feast to enjoy at a leisurely pace! It
consists of a number of savoury dips, crusty village bread and an
array of seasonal dishes. The perfect accompanying drink is local
wine and the toast made with your glass raised high is 'Stini Yamass'
- 'Your good health'. The Cyprus Night Dinner will be held in a
Cyprus Tavern.
Tickets will be for sale at the Secretariat desk in the registration
area for non-registered participants (subject to availability). |
